Administration

The Aroostook Band of Micmacs Cultural Community Education Center opened in August of 2000. The center offers the interpretation of traditional and contemporary culture of the Micmac people within the museum. The Center also houses our Chief, Council Chamber, Finance Department, Personnel Office, Child and Family Services, Realty & Assets Department, Cultural Department, and Education Center. Also included in this building is the Administrative Staff; Tribal Administrator, Tribal Clerk, Tribal Liaison Officer, Tribal Planner and the Administrative Assistant.

Administrative Staff

Tribal Administrator

The Tribal Administrator is responsible for the overall administration of Tribal operations; carries out actions initiated by the Tribal Council under the direction of the Tribal Chief; supervises all staff and controls operational actions.

Tribal Clerk

The Tribal Clerk is responsible for sending, reviewing and processing membership applications; issuing band cards; issuing hunting and fishing licenses; recording and filing records for Tribal Council meetings

Tribal Liaison Officer

The Tribal Liaison Officer assists Tribal members with applications and provide information and answer questions regarding services.  When necessary, home visits may be done to assist with applications.

Tribal Planner

The Tribal Planner works with all departments, key administrators and the Tribal Council to develop future needs and solutions to improve the educational, social and economic status of the Tribe; research and identify sources of funding and models for all Tribal Programs; and assist staff with operations of their grant or program to ensure the quality of work performed conforms with the requirements of their respective scopes of work.

Chief Financial Officer

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) ensures that all statutory, regulatory and financial requirements are met and that general accepted accounting principles meet financial policy standards established by funding agencies. The CFO also ensures grant/contract conditions and standards are in compliance among many other accounting duties.

Fiscal Assistant

The Fiscal Assistant is responsible for entering and processing the accounts payable for the Tribe and assisting the CFO when necessary.

Accountant

The Accountant is responsible for preparing for the annual audit, preparing financial statements and assisting the CFO.

 

Payroll Clerk

The Payroll Clerk is responsible for entering and processing payroll for the Tribe and assisting the CFO when necessary.

 

Administrative Assistant

The Administrative Assistants responsibilities include front desk reception; greeting all who visit our offices; answering and redirecting phone calls; incoming and outgoing mail; maintaining job postings within the office; purchasing office supplies and maintaining schedules and preparation for in-house conferences and events.
