About Us

The Mi'kmaq Nation Health Department is home to our Clinic; Contract Health; Community Health; Environmental Department; Behavioral Health and our Fitness Center. Also included in this building is the Administrative Staff; Health Director, Administrative Assistant and Tribal Planner. The Youth Department, although not housed within the Mi'kmaq Health building, is a subdivision of the Health Department.

Health Administration Staff

Health Director

The Health Director is responsible for the overall administration of the Indian Health Service programs, relevant to the Mi'kmaq Nation. This position entails a demonstrated proficiency in planning, coordinating, implementing and monitoring of all Mi'kmaq Health related program and policy related activities, as well as, ensuring the proper adherence to provisions outlined in contracts and grants managed by various tribal health programs.

Administrative Assistant

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for management of day to day operations; assisting the Health Director; and IHS property management.

Health Planner

The Health Planner is responsible for assessing health needs; assisting with the planning of effective health education programs; planning of projects and activities aimed at elevating the health status of the Mi'kmaq Nation; assisting with evaluating the effectiveness of health education programs; involvement and participating with program department meetings and committees and writing grants.

Data Entry Specialist

The Data Entry Specialist is responsible for inputting health data from all Mi'kmaq Nation Health Departments and updating and maintaining Patient Care Component system.
