Violence Hurts the Whole Family and Community

Violence Hurts the Whole Family and Community

Domestic and family violence can affect people of every age and may include economic, physical, sexual, emotional, or psychological abuse. It can occur between intimate partners or former partners, within families, or toward children, adults, and Elders. Intimate partner violence may include stalking, sexual or physical violence, coercive control, threats, intimidation, and psychological aggression.

The harm does not end with the person experiencing the abuse. Children, relatives, friends, and the broader community may also experience fear, trauma, instability, and lasting emotional and physical effects. Recognizing the signs, supporting survivors without judgment, and holding those who cause harm accountable are essential to creating safer families and a stronger, healthier community.

We are here to help.
